How to remove a background
- Drop a photo above.
- Run it. The AI finds the main subject (a person, a pet, a product) and removes everything else.
- Choose the new background: transparent, white, or any color. The preview updates right away.
- Download a PNG (transparent) or a JPG (white or color).
Changing the background color is free and instant, because it happens in your browser. Only the cut-out itself uses the AI.
Transparent PNG, white or color?

Use PNG when the image will go on top of something else. JPG files are smaller and work everywhere, but have no transparency.
Passport and ID photos on a white background
Most passport and visa photos need a plain white or off-white background. Remove the background here, choose White, download, and then crop to the official size on the passport photo page, which also checks head size and makes a 4 × 6 print sheet. Check your country's rules first: some (such as Schengen visas or China) accept light gray or require a specific shade.
Product photos for online stores
Amazon requires a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) for a product's main image, and most marketplaces recommend one. Choose White for an exact #FFFFFF background. For a lifestyle look, pick a soft brand color instead. To meet a marketplace's file size limit afterwards, use compress to a target size.
Getting clean edges
- Contrast helps. A subject that stands out from the background (a dark coat against a light wall) gets the cleanest edge.
- Hair and fur come out well against plain backgrounds; against a busy background, some strands may be lost or keep a fringe of the old color.
- Glass, smoke and thin mesh are partly transparent, and the AI has to decide what's subject and what's background. Check them closely.
- Several subjects. The AI keeps what looks like the main subject. If it drops someone you wanted, crop the photo closer before you run it.
Cost and privacy
Each cut-out costs 1 credit and needs a free account; failed runs are refunded automatically. The photo is sent to our AI provider, kie.ai, which deletes the upload after 24 hours and the result after 14 days. CropDen doesn't keep or reuse your images.
