What the extension does
| Right-click menu | What happens | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Crop & resize in CropDen | Opens the image in the CropDen editor | In your browser |
| Resize for › Instagram post, story, YouTube thumbnail, passport photo and 7 more | Opens the right size page, already loaded with the image | In your browser |
| Save as › JPG, PNG, WebP | Converts the image and saves it to Downloads | Inside the extension |
| Compress to › 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB | Saves a JPG under that size | Inside the extension |
| AI tools › Remove background, Upscale, Extend | Opens the AI tool with the image | On CropDen's AI provider |
| Right-click a page: Screenshot this page | Captures what's on screen and opens it in the editor | In your browser |
The toolbar button opens a small panel too: drop, paste or pick an image (or capture the tab you're on), then choose a size.
Three ways to use it
- Right-click an image. Any photo, product shot or meme on a web page. Pick a size and CropDen opens with the image already in the frame, so you only adjust the crop and download.
- Right-click the page. "Screenshot this page with CropDen" captures the visible area, which is handy for cropping a chart, a tweet or a section of a page.
- Click the toolbar icon. Paste an image you copied, drop a file, or press Capture this tab, then choose where it goes.
Save WebP as JPG (and other quick fixes)
Many sites serve WebP or AVIF images, which some apps and upload forms still refuse. Save as › JPG converts the image on the spot and puts a normal .jpg in your Downloads folder. Compress to › 100 KB does what most application forms ask for: it keeps the best quality that fits under the limit and only shrinks the image if low quality alone isn't enough.
Both run inside the extension, so the image never reaches a server.
Permissions, explained
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Context menus | Adds the CropDen items to the right-click menu |
| Active tab and scripting | Reads the image you right-clicked, or captures the tab when you ask, and only then |
| Downloads | Saves the converted or compressed file |
| Storage | Holds the image for a few seconds while the CropDen tab opens |
| Access to all sites (optional, asked only when needed) | Some sites keep their images on another server that blocks extensions. Chrome asks you once, on a page that explains why, the first time you right-click one of those images |
The extension contains no analytics and no ads. Links it opens carry a "chrome_extension" tag so we can count visits from it, and nothing else is sent.
